Powering a fast-growing French charging network

About Client

Yusco is a French charge point operator specializing in destination charging, deploying and operating AC, DC and ultra-fast charging stations on the car parks of major retail brands such as Auchan, Decathlon or Leroy Merlin. Working with technology providers including Alpitronic, Yusco is building a dense, reliable network designed to make EV charging part of everyday journeys.

Yusco is also the operator behind the Le Plein network, ranked France’s number one charging network in Chargemap’s 2026 ranking, based on 433,775 driver reviews from 132,000 unique users collected in 2025.

Growth at that pace puts pressure on the software underneath. Yusco needed a charge point management system that would stay reliable day to day, scale with the network, and connect easily to roaming hubs and market partners.

In a nutshell

Solidstudio supplies and continuously develops the CPMS that runs Yusco’s charging network. The platform covers Yusco’s operational needs: from EVSE to station modelization, tariffs and sessions management, Plug & Charge, and e-roaming with GIREVE and through peer-to-peer connections. This is not a fixed-scope project. It is an ongoing partnership in which both teams shape the roadmap together as the network grows.

Project at a glance

  • Client profile: French CPO · destination charging · AC and DC network
  • Network: Le Plein, #1 in Chargemap’s 2026 ranking
  • Engagement: CPMS, ongoing development, Plug & Charge, e-roaming

Two goals, one direction: growth

Yusco came to us with two goals that pulled in the same direction, growth, but tested the platform in very different ways.

  • Bring Plug & Charge to the network. For Yusco, Plug & Charge was more than a feature. It was a key milestone for scaling the network and a clear signal to the market that it was ready for the next round of growth.
  • Keep the database fast as data piles up. Every charging session generates a steady stream of meter readings and authorisation events. As stations were added, that volume grew quickly, and so did the load on the database and the cost of the infrastructure behind it.

On top of this, much of the work involved several industry partners at once, each with its own protocols, certificates and timelines.

A technical partner, not just a software supplier

We work with Yusco as a technical partner, not just a software supplier. In practice, that means open communication, flexibility when priorities shift, and raising problems, along with proposed fixes, before they become urgent. Where we focused:

  • Running complex integrations in parallel: OCPP, OCPI and Plug & Charge integrations with several partners at the same time.
  • Stability at scale: Keeping the database stable and the system responsive while the charging network grew fast.
  • Staying ahead of load and cost: Proactively proposing architecture improvements and audits to protect the platform from rising database load and infrastructure costs.

Continuous development, in close collaboration

Development runs continuously, in close collaboration between the two teams. Highlights so far:

  • Plug & Charge demonstrator: We deployed and tested a Plug & Charge demonstrator on Alpitronic chargers, using GIREVE and SECC certificates. Drivers plug in and charging starts automatically, with no app and no RFID card. Plug & Charge is now deployed on all ultra-fast Yusco chargers.
  • E-roaming: OCPI integrations with GIREVE and Octopus Electroverse open Yusco’s chargers to drivers from other networks and services.
  • Performance at scale: Joint work to optimise the system for high data volumes, backed by our architecture and audit recommendations on database load and infrastructure cost.
  • Day-to-day operations: Full charging station management, tariff and session handling, built on support for both OCPP 1.6 and 2.0.1 and OCPI 2.1.1 and 2.2.1.

Outcomes

  • Plug & Charge deployed on all ultra-fast Yusco chargers, a key milestone on Yusco’s path to scaling the network
  • Roaming with GIREVE and many eMSPs in peer-to-peer connections, making Yusco’s chargers available to a wider pool of drivers
  • A platform and database set-up designed to grow with the network, with load and infrastructure costs kept under control
  • A long-term partnership with a steady working rhythm and a shared roadmap
